The Hildys' odd, potent, heavy, butterfly chasing, indie rock eruption of "Water Won't Flow" from their "Kudos" EP

"breaking the sky..."

Water Won't Flow is from The Hildys recently released EP "Kudos". If you are like me, you will find a smile growing slowly on your face and your eyes widen a bit faster while you listen to this song that wraps around your psyche in a potent way. The kind of swaying bass and hippie psychedelic verses feel a lot like late 80's to mid 90's college rock (with stoner rock tendencies) but then when the chorus erupts, and it does erupt, sounds so post rock or garden rock on acid like (with stoner tendencies) that your now big smile may easily turn into head banging. Good sounding song too. Classic heavy rock guitars, male vox with girl vox supporting (always love that) and lyrically, a nice interesting vagueness, that I always love in songs, in film, in art.

Other songs on the EP suggested to me that their possible inspirations might (could) be bands like The Smashing Pumpkins, Yuck, Arcade Fire, Silversun Pickups and maybe odd bands like Miracle Legion (just guessing). Lead vox, by the way are split equally male, female on this EP (cool).

The Hildys are based out of Denton, Texas and are Avery Lyda, Mariah Johnson, Jameson McGhee and Jeremiah McGhee.

The Hildys is an indie rock band from Denton, TX. Jeremiah wanted to call their genre "cave rock", but no one would know what that means. Frankly, I don't even think he knows what it means. - the Hildys
