The unabashedly emotional and romantic "Beauty Fades" by Alex Siegel

"superficial beauty fades"

Beauty Fades by Santa Monica, California bred and based singer-songwriter / producer Alex Siegel is simply beautiful. Unabashedly emotional and romantic, this sort of lo-fi psyche pop affair floats on well produced machine beats, pearly layered keys, guitar and Siegels tender and sadcore laced vox, but what might be the most endearing are the poetic lyrics drenched in romance and longing.
I don't often paste up lyrics in their entirety and maybe never have in over ten years but feel compelled to do so today.

"Burning all the bridges that we cross
Just another kid who wound up lost
Somewhere on the face of the earth
She’s hiding her tears

Something about it don’t feel right
Looking at a screen to see the light
Home alone this empty feeling’s
The same every year

Superficial beauty fades
Show me something that won’t go away
Superficial beauty fades
Show me something that won’t go away

One more lifeless photograph
Don’t know if I should cry or I should laugh
Stuck inside a loop that I can’t break

Roll another number for the road
Hear the greatest story ever told
This could be the only trip
My heart’s gonna take

Superficial beauty fades

Superficial beauty fades
Show me something that won’t go away
Superficial beauty fades
Show me something that won’t go away

Is it only
Love is a ruby
That you wear outside
Is it only
Love is a ruby
That you wear outside

Superficial beauty fades"

Alex Siegel is a rapidly emerging experimental Californian songwriter and producer. Born and raised in Santa Monica, Siegel cites various genres as influences on his music; with jazz, bossa nova, folk, pop, and hip-hop all going into the sound cauldron. His creations are eclectic and evocative, with swirling productions tapping into your deepest emotions.

Siegel plays all the instrumentation on his tracks, which may go some way to explaining how personal and rich the soundscapes feel. His songs are rich in texture, varied in their use of sounds and unapologetically emotional.
