So as you all probably know Mexican Summer has dropped Ariel Pink from their label seemingly after finding out that he attended the Trump "Stop the Steal" rally that escalated into the invasion of the Capitol Building. AS you probably also know, Pink was part of the relative peaceful (albeit passionate part of the rally (as a known Trump supporter and staunch hater of Democrats) and was asleep in his hotel room when the actual insurrection took place. Clearly he was not any part of that extremist fringe although from some interviews he does seem to believe in a lot of the baseless rhetoric about election fraud.
I have not been a huge Ariel Pink fan over the years but do find him being dropped from his label at this time somewhat disturbing.

Weird. Pink was a know wackadoodle when you signed him back in 2017 and, yes, like a lot of Trump supporters he has "daddy issues" looking for that father figure. And yes, he is pretentious, pretty much thinks he knows more than anyone and has made statements that are patently false in regards to mail in ballots and the election being rigged but it disturbs me that he has been dropped when he was a known wackadoodle as I said earlier. So my question is, did you drop him because you fear retribution from the mob (a weak position) or did you drop him because you do not want to support someone who has different beliefs than your own or did you simply drop him because you think he is a conceited asshole? Curious minds want to know. In any event, he will not lose money from this and I do respect YOU as a private company to do what you want but it looks kinda bad. Liberal minded people and companies (I feel) should have liberal hearts that is what separates us from narrow minded people.

As un-thought out my response was, the point I was trying to get across was that mob mentality and thought police are always bad when it comes from the right or the left. When BLM supporters circled a woman at an outside cafe in demanding she tow the line (see here) or TRUMP supporters angrily taunt Mitt Romney in the closed confines of an airplane (see here), it is equally abhorrent and scary. In both cases, the restaurant and airline didn't have the balls to escort the shouters from "their" establishment (or area) as they could have done so legally. This secondary numbing and quiet bow to the "mob" is the chilling effect of mob rule. Pretty soon people just stay quiet to the mob for fear they themselves will be attacked or even worse cancelled outright.

The thing is this. In my opinion groups like Antifa or the Occupy movement evident in Seattle are so far left that they literally hold hands and walk in lock step with far right groups like the Proud Boys, Neo Nazis, Holocaust Minimizers and QAnon on the right. Both extreme sides trade in civil discourse for bullying tactics, mob law and group think, the makings and tenants of fascism with a capital F.

Ariel Pink's dismissal may come as a result of the aforementioned chilling effect and that in my opinion is disturbing. What also is troubling is Pink's opinions on certain issues. In an interview with Hyrum Miller he waxes poetic on a number of issues and at the end I realize that Pink is one of those guys who thinks he is the brightest bulb in the room, has disdain for everyone else who he seems to think are of inferior intellect, yet he parrots things that are categorically false. The worst part is that the interviewer seems to be a sycophant at worst, and in the least, someone who agrees with Pink on every subject. They both are preaching to the choir which makes for a rather boring affair. There is no challenging of facts or view here. It does, though, give a wide open view into Pink's mindset so have a listen.

FACT: Republicans virtue signal all the time and they are the party of virtue signaling (from gender issues, who can marry, telling women whether they can have abortions and I could list a thousand other things) but Pink says Republicans don't virtue signal.
FACT: Democrats and Republicans both lie, they are politicians but Pink thinks that only Democrats lie. On an aside, Pink states that with political views you have to use tough love and believes in ostracizing / cutting off friendships over political views (which I simply don't understand) so he should not be surprised when his Label cuts him off.
FACT: Obama did have a contentious relationship with Benjamin Netanyahu but Obama’s actual record over his eight years in office actually makes him one of the most pro-Israeli American presidents since Harry S Truman. Obama has given Israel more money and arms than any of his predecessors. He has fully lived up to America’s formal commitment to preserve Israel’s “qualitative military edge” by supplying his ally with ever more sophisticated weapons systems. His parting gift to Israel was a staggering military aid package of $38 billion for the next 10 years. It is also the largest military aid package from one country to another in the annals of human history. TRUMP does leave office with a more "Stable" Middle East but as we all know, stability in the region is not a constant. It vacillates.
