OPINION: The Inevitable Happened Today. The Unchecked Machinations of a Megalomaniac came to a head.

"an orange haired tanned megalomaniac"

Thoughts on a historically fucked up day

I knew that Trump would not come to his senses. Doing so, simply does not jive with the MO of a megalomaniac, not at all but the events today with masked and not masked invaders breaching the Capitol Building literally looked like a bad 70's mad Biker movie a lah "Billie Jack" but a bizarro version.

Today was a chance for us all to see the electoral vote count and the objectors of those swing states and hear them give us a piece of their mind. There were the inflammatory and nonsensical ravings of a Ted Cruz who equated the "polls show that 39% of American thing the Election was rigged" to "nearly half of the American People think the Election was rigged". What the bloody fuck? I am no math whiz but I do know that 39% is substantially closer to one third of those Americans and I also know what Ted Cruz has said countless times that polls are highly inaccurate. So then why quote them. He said other misleading statements.

There were clear thinkers like Republican Pat Toomey from Pennsylvania who, with surgeon-like precision, explained clearly why Congress does not have the mandate to elect the President but the voters of each state do. Furthermore he eloquently explained his duty to represent the voters of his state and explained the specious arguments that he knew the objectors would focus within his state. Later he would explain exactly the falsehoods the objectors have been floating for months about his states election laws and he corrected each misleading statement. Toomey was a bright spot explaining how he voted for Donald Trump, he supported him but that Joe Biden won legally, that no voter fraud on a substantive scale took place and that Trump's tact in delaying the inevitable transfer of power was dangerous to the republic.

Oh and Lindsey Graham babbled incessantly barely making sense and seemed to think it was courageous to state publicly that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won fair and square. What the fuck?
[I did re-listen to Graham, and his words were demonstrably moving considering his position and aligning with Trump for so long]

The invasion, insertion of who are believed to be Trump supporters (there are some indications of QAnon believers and the Proud Boys) blew my mind. I can't help but think that some Trump supporters within the Capitol Building staff allowed this to occur. I hope I am wrong but it seemed so easy.

No one needed to die but someone did. A woman succumbed to a gunshot to the neck but details concerning the alleged shooting have not been released and while the press and protestors seem to blame Capitol police or secret service it is too early to say. Was it friendly fire? I won't go there but there are suggestions that it could have been.

After today there are 14 days to go. Some are suggesting that Trump who apparently encouraged these wackos to make their voices heard could do a lot more damage. Some are suggesting he needs to be impeached quickly, a snap impeachment that is apparently a thing.

Crazy times but, in some way, I am glad this happened. This bizarro Presidency and the end to it was destined to happen and serves to remind us what can happen when a despot like megalomaniac can grab hold of malcontents and people who are, for all intents and purposes, lost and looking for someone to lead them. People like that will follow anyone who nurtures their need for acceptance. It is not that hard to whip a mob up who needs a cosmic daddy even if they are a Hitler or a Trump.
