PDG's anti-folk punk 4 square dance of "Doggy 2"

"Doggy don't spell his name"

PDG’s “Doggy 2” is the first track off of their newly released album “New Ahhm Uhm,” a psychedelic freak folk trip comprised by a large group of nomadic artists who do whatever they want creatively, resulting in these recordings. Hearing these tracks feels like you’re at a party in a forest cabin with PDG, using anything around as an instrument to be freely expressive. “Doggy 2” reminded me of classic psych folk you only hear if you dig deep on youtube or find old records (which people end up posting on youtube). Listening is an experience, and I’ve always felt that immersing yourself in experimental and psychedelic music is an alternative to actually doing drugs. I’ve been to many shows to see artists playing music that makes you feel like you’re on something, and I’d wonder how intensified it may have been for folks attending on psychedelics. You don’t have to have a bad trip, just listen to PDG and have fun with it! “New Ahhm Uhm” is out now, enjoy listening and maybe you’ll hear the thoughts of lava lamps and plants.

Pderrigereo, Pidarre Y Gerreo, Pudarry Jarryo... etc. PDG for convenience sake is a rag-tag hodge-podge of folk who met at Wesleyan University a coupla years back. Much like the band's name, the stylings and physical location of PDG are hard to pin down. Art-punk at heart, warped with distortion, rattled by found percussion, and trodden down by barn-burnin synth stomp. PDG is a traveling bunch, having settled down for stints in Connecticut, Vermont, Texas, New York, New Mexico.... and even the old Mexico! Truly nomadic.
