Leche Malo and the folk art pop indie turns of "Intentions Are Void"

"timing is everything, intentions are void..."

Leche Malo is the divergent folk art pop project by Seaside, California based singer songwriter Vincent Randazzo and the slippery "Intentions Are Void" is from their recently released debut EP "I Wouldn't Forgive Me Either It's Just I Have To". I remember thinking (when I first heard it) how incredible different it sounded in terms of truth telling and Randazzo's ability to craft such a fluid folk indie track that is extremely complex in terms of it's ever moving and shifting musical narrative without feeling like it is so. The acoustic movements, the sort of busker vibe that feels like it stems from inspired improvisation, the back and forth twist and turn from something in between spoken word and singing and to full on pushed wails and something that approximates what feels like a delightful sort of country western yodel (but not) is all so surprising, charming and extremely engaging.

Of course, my busker description might lead one to believe that this track is simple but thematically and musically and production wise, this track is (as I eluded to) extremely nuanced. Listen repeatedly and you might focus on the tightly wound bass, the backing vox, the subtle, yet precise lead guitar work that pulls in different flavors. Speaking of flavors, I hear folk, light jazz phrasing, country and roots tones (with a level of musical theatricality) all pushing and bending into a hybrid beautifully different folk pop motif.

It is all so unique. It is all so Leche Malo.
