Tashaki Miyaki and the heart break dream amalgam of "Castaway" (Official Video)

"give me a reason to cry..."

Listen to Tashaki Miyaki's dream elevator "Castaway" and you might be transported to heavenly places. The compressed drum beat suggests today but the angelic self aware drama within the vocal aesthetic and the sort of mid 60's western guitar (befitting of Them's "Hear Comes The Night" fronted by Van Morrison) suggest otherwise. The lo-fi synths have a mid 80's majesty and the running piano feels like the kind of pop tones in a 70's flick. Take it all in and you have an amalgam of broken hearts, starry nights, tears on a shoulder and a lovely slow dance that you will remember until the day you die.

Their sophomore LP, Castaway, will be released by Metropolis in April 2021, get in and push the button for the top floor.

Tashaki Miyaki are explorers of dreamy, hazy, melodic guitar pop. Though its three members are self-described “California kids,” their sound is influenced by much more than a west coast attitude. They all have broad musical tastes spanning across the American Songbook, Sun Records, Doo-Whoop and vocal groups from the 40s-50s, “the 60’s & 70’s things everyone loves”, their hero “Uncle Neil”, Punk, “Everything in the 90’s” and past and current hip-hop.
