Sam i and the funky nu-disco sunshine of "Shake" ft. Alex Greenwald (Remix by Breakbot )

"Shake, shake, shake til you get it right "

I get up every morning at 5am, it seems to suit me but after a long night I overslept and awoke at 7:30 and feel like this 90 minute delay is going to totally fuck me up today like a staggered uneasy domino that is going to effect everything. Maybe though, shifts in patterns can be a good thing. Take for example Sam i's track "Shake" featuring Alex Greenwald (remixed by Breakbot). This, at least on the surface, is not the kind of track I would think I would gravitate to especially in a bit of a foul mood and with an ache simmering behind my eyes. But I am utterly wrong. Just nano seconds in as I sip my first cup of coffee, beautiful guitar chords fall down (maybe diminished 7th) which just sound so good, they have a wonderful texture and then the hammer comes down. A sort of old school funky bass line with a thump beat, a dreaded thump beat which I have been known to dismiss (my friends know this) but it comes in and comes out of the mix perfectly. The Carlos Alomar-esque rhythms are on point, the all inclusive vocal aesthetic that feels like something on Soul Train (the later years) are cool and the veiled bits of enlightenment "shake till you get it right" to me, in these uncertain times when we all have a million side hustles to put food on the table feels like a rebel yell of mild defiance. Do it, whatever you do until you reach your pinnacle, YOUR pinnacle. A nu-disco track making me feel this way, who would of thought. Love this though. It feels like warm sunshine on my face this morning.

[GRAMMY-nominated DJ, music producer, composer, music & film director Sam Spiegel, aka Sam i has tapped remix-royalty Breakbot for a steamy new remix of "Shake" (ft. Phantom Planet's Alex Greenwald). With Chic-infused guitar work and a symphony of boogied-out synth work added to Spiegel’s initial hypnotic, slinking bassline, Breakbot’s remix transforms the original uplifting electro stomper into a seductive disco slowburner — arriving just in time for the sunny months ahead.]
