The Deans and the edgy twist and turns of "Collide" from the "Casual Stares" EP

"let's go..."

Step into the raucous sound of The Dean's rock indie post punk charger "Collide" and you might have heart palpitation moments of glee, feelings of nostalgia and a sense that you want to dance, or mosh or go for a hard exhilarating run. The track begins with dreamy sounds and starts to twist and turn and become what it is. A runaway pummel of what feels like forward thinking lounge / doo wop punk meets proggy surf rock doused with bits of psychedelia. The guitar work is tangled up in wonderful ways, the bass / drum's bottom throttle is tight and Sean Bullock's resonant vox at once (to me) feel like an edgy amalgam of Paul Banks (Interpol) and Jim Morrison (The Doors).

The Deans are based out of Corvallis, Oregon and centered around Bullock's songs (and voice) and realized with the talents of Zach Crawford (guitar), Alex Wright (guitar), Garrett Remde (bass) and Myles Remde (drums). "Collide" is the first track off of The Dean's all too brief "Casual Stares" EP.
