There is something about "Older" by Brooklyn based Modern Diet that feels both somber and hopeful. It has such a wonderfully fluid production, dynamically rich with percolating sounds from palm muted guitar tones, hand claps and ambient percussion that (if you squint your eyes) feels like wooden spoons on pots and pans, shakers and maybe drops of water. It feels so tactile and real and I thought of some early Paul Simon. The production coupled with wonderful upfront vox does have a kind of late 70's studio album imaginings. Back in those days albums spent time getting made and while the upcoming full length “The State of Things” (out July 2022) was recorded in a mere two weeks at Paper Moon Records HQ in Bushwick, it certainly doesn't sound like it.
Modern Diet is an ever-evolving Brooklyn-based indie rock band led by Jake Cheriff. Cheriff is best known for his production/mixing work with bands such as Daisy the Great, Moon Kissed, My Son The Doctor, Talk Bazaar, Carli & The Dark, and countless other artists active in the Brooklyn music scene.
"Older" is accompanied with an Animated Music Video by Jaron Lionel.
