Yin Waster and the dreamy two step waltz of "Impressions of Cabinets and Kitchenettes"

"Before the Hudson rips me in two / Before the ambulance comes into view / Before the morgue paints my face / To ensure that i’m still awake..."

I quite literally fell in love with "Impressions of Cabinets and Kitchenettes" half way through. The sleepy and endearing track by Yin Waster, the musical project from Griffin Mang and Gabe Huff (and sometimes a cast of collaborators), moves like a two step waltz with an inviting guitar rhythm and drum beat while slide guitars and lead licks cast imagery of shooting stars in the back ground. The vocal aesthetic is downright lovely, easy on the ears and heart even when the impressionistic lyrics feel dark, "Before the Hudson rips me in two / Before the ambulance comes into view / Before the morgue paints my face / To ensure that I’m still awake..." you feel like the partner in the waltz. The mix of dreamy folk, garden rock psychedelia could last forever like a dream but eventually the static from a television set reminds you that it is time to go to sleep.

Yin Waster on the track:

One night while after a particular wild show of ours I let me friend who had gotten too drunk at the show sleep on my couch. It was a great night, filled with music, friends, drinks and good times. This song was my attempt to capture the feeling of knowing that the good times can't last forever and to appreciate them while they are here. I also love trippy guitar solos.
