Buddha Trixie and the frenetic post punk / altpop energy of "Shmoopie"

"took you long enough, I held your hand in the summer rain..."

The sheer amount of unbridled post punk / surf pop energy of "Shmoopie" by L.A. based Buddha Trixie, sonically maybe an amalgam of artists like The Drums, Surf Curse (early days) and The Strokes (halcyon days) while on a case of pixie sticks and Redbulls. I think what sets this track up and away from most such similar songs is the feverish improv atmospheres and the lush dreamy arpeggio'd synth break that feels like a slow dance in the middle of a mosh pit.

The band shares:

"We recorded this DIY in an Airbnb in Oregon. We took a road trip in a uhaul with all of our gear to track in a cabin right next to the river. Lots of brews lots of blunts, lots of iCarly. Oh and this song!"

I dig this kind of exploration away from the norm, just going somewhere else inspires a lot of fun and creative shape shifting.
