KT Laine and the here, now and then of "Dumpster Fire"

"No more goin hungry / This time there’s another / And I’m a terrible liar / This time / This time I’m my own lover / And there’s no chance of a / Dumpster fire..."

The self reflections of "Dumpster Fire" by singer-songwriter KT Laine feels cloistered in past pain but pain that has healed over time. Laine's approach here laid bare musically and lyrically is compelling to me. The sonics with very upfront and pretty dry guitar, bass and drums but with KT's self assured magnetic vocal countenance (with what feels like backing self harmonies) and other guitar layers more lost in washes of lovely reverb paints in interesting duality. It is as if this 'thing' is all being replayed, the dry tones are now and the vast sounds are transmissions from another time.

KT says:

"This song is a reminder to be honesty with myself. It’s introspective and a little self deprecating, and it feels like it paints a picture of the ways I was growing at the time."

"Dumpster Fire" makes me smile and want to reach out to those I know having a hard time. Extra applause for the other tones, the mellotron-esque subtleties, the noir pop darkness and the urge to look in our own bathroom mirror late, late at night.
