"Holy Rollers never seem to be your type..."
One of AP's favorite local bands, Widows Gold from Costa Mesa, California is out with a new track 'Holy Rollers'. At Widows Gold's core is the songwriting husband / wife duo of Ben Sauer (guitar) and Madeline Star (vox). The band's sound, a crushing punchy coalescence of early East Coast 2000's post punk revival / 80's new wave and power pop with contemporary indie rock is tightly wound / dynamic post punkian rock hinging on Star's vocal countenance that is so full of character.
'Holy Rollers' with the crunchy guitars, pounding drums and catchy bass lines, slamming build ups and Star's vox had me thinking of Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs just a bit. Really digging this track.
