Jordano Martinez and the experimental trip of "Lost Truth"

If you like art in a tidy box, if you like verse-chorus- so on and so forth, if you like beautifully sung words that you can sing along to then you probably won't care for "Lost Truth" by Calgary, Alberta, Canada based electronic experimental artist Jordano Martinez. If you like the absence of all those things and soundscapes with askew tensions then you probably will find this sort of 4 act surreal play compelling in some way. 

It, in fact, begins with sounds that run on free form-esque drums. When the words fall from Jordano's mouth it feels like something between spoken word and inside out rap. The feeling is incongruent, the aesthetic like skittish cats poking their heads in for a look and then running away. 

The next section feels calmer but still spiraling dark with sounds that feel like creatures that might resemble radio trasmissions. Oddly, in this section the messiness veers in and out of recognizable music, from light jazz to psychedelic post rock to 80's synthwave.

in the carnage of a collapsing mind

undo the damage that's been done

As the next two sections become more sonically intrusive and weird, like a soundtrack to a movie directed by Italian-Canadian film director Panos Cosmatos, the dashes of what feels like organic orchestration but probably isn't, the use of plaintive violin lines over ambient, industrial, horror pop-esque imaginings, after all that there is a resolution. One maybe covered in space slime or blood but a resolution just the same. 

"Lost Truth" is the last track from my fourth solo album, "Diving for a Lost Truth", just released April 28th.
