Basement Flower and the proleptic fever of "Junk King"

"I'll wait up right here / it's getting really late..."

If Wes Anderson wasn't a hipster film maker, or if Charlie Kaufman was, or if Xavier Dolan was more whimsical then dark, then maybe "Junk King" by Baltimore based Basement Flower might end up in one of their films. The track crafted by Jason Iden who also plays with other creative artists collectively in the area, pushes BF as a solo project.

Quirky, feverish, maybe even proleptic in it's heightened sense of worry or anticipation of something about to happen appeals to me. True, the melancholy here might feel hyper in a youthful, even childish way but most of us have felt this kind of anxiety. Haven't we.

Basement Flower aka Old Dirty Flower aka Basement Flowers aka that weird kid that wears trucker hats...

The solo workings of Jason Iden when he's not playing in other bands around the Baltimore area. Basement Flower has had the involvement of an assorted group of performers, artists, and studio musicians over the past few years. Too many to name, but you know who you are! Long live the flower!
