"I got a couple of vices / you know that you're one / but my only advice is / have faith but still have fun..."
Binding Spell, the artful alt rock project of Washington, D.C. songwriter / multi-instrumentalist Roger Poulin creates shoegaze-esque post punk imaginings in his DIY home studio. The emotionally swept "Destroyed" with serious anchored heaviness offset by Sara Phillips' steely vocal countenance feels as fresh as it does 90's post punk nostalgic.
A frequent co-writer of Poulin's, Sara's vocal tones feel somewhat melancholy but empowered like an amalgam of Laura Mary Carter (Blood Red Shoes) and Johnette Napolitano (Concrete Blonde circa 1990) and Poulin's musical puzzle piece pastiche of pearly indie rock dreaminess and sort of Gothic rock heaviness is truly captivating. I dig this track so much.
