"you could disconnect the cable / rip it off just like a label..."
The offbeat effervescent "the label " by salamander aka Pea Jay, Leo Frampton, and drummer Ben Verde (who describe their sounds as dreamgrunge) feels super vast to me, the overall hazy reverby sound feels like it would be best realized at a festival setting at night with the crowd vibing to it. I like the skewed electronica, the drum / percussive sounds that feel chill but cool (did I hear a hissing air nozzle sound?), the bending layers of guitars (awesome) and the gang-esque lyrics with mirroring musical sounds against the vocal patter. It all sounds so communal, do I know exactly what "the label" is about? Fuck no but it doesn't matter. This track sounds provocative and sounds like a big hug.
Bonus video below of another cool salamander song.
