Frogs Show Mercy and the post hardcore emo shape shift of "Chester's Privilege"

...and I said "we all make mistakes"

The unbridled sonic anabolic energy of "Chester's Privilege" by Miami's alternative emo outfit Frogs Show Mercy, with it's screaming lead guitar and cut glass vocals feels like a riot in progress until it doesn't. What does that mean? It means that the serious hyper punk, progressive raucousness right out of the gate (AND it is a glorious thing) feels like a swirling storm of bloody moshing turning sharp corners and feeling surprisingly dynamic. Love the panoramic vocals too as the chapters of the song pivot and shift musically and emotionally. Then at around 2 minutes and 47 seconds in, the world wind slams shut and "Chester's Privilege" becomes beautifully dreamy with a languid shuffling drum beat, swaying bass and layers of pretty textured bending guitars. Such a stunning surprise outro.

Amazing track, stunning.
