Anchored to fluttering somber synth notes and a thumping beat, the lyrics of "Lay On Your Hands", beautiful but maybe desperate, ethereal but maybe tortured as darkly drawn by Gothenburg, Sweden's KÅRP K feels at once glacially melancholy but spacey and cinematic. The vocal countenance while hard to describe is lush, is gorgeous enhanced by a 200 grit sandpaper throatiness with stylistic aspects that seemingly curl some lyrical passages in such interesting ways.
From KÅRP K's current EP "Radical You" and as press notes (bracketed) indicate, [KÅRP concludes the apocalyptic trilogy they began in 2021. The EP is inspired by the new world that must emerge when the old one shatters. A better world that you are a co-creator of. Through subjects like sex, violence, and heartfelt love, KÅRP tackles a brighter future where pounding beats and synth textures are your solid ground."]
The lyrics encased with heavy poetry and a sense of fate in each of us but not always tapped into, not always realize or even hinted at when you stare in the mirror. Maybe a sense that gazing at one's destiny is horribly sad if you cant reach out and hold onto it, embody it. Maybe this realization is dependent on finding the one person that can bring it out of you while all others might only stifle it.
"You want to fall in love go lay down your hands. Lay on your back, wait for the singing yeah yeah
Oh so you feel bad oh all the others that made you feel oh feel bad oh
You want to fall in love go lay down your hands. Lay on your back, wait for the singing yeah yeah"
About the song:
[This song is like an instruction manual. The instruction goes something like this: There's music within you. It can be the most important thing you have. Repeat it to yourself over and over again if anyone tries to take it from you. Like a pulsating beat adorned with arpeggios.]
About the EP:
[Who could have predicted that faith, hope, and love would be the most subversive concepts one could imagine in 2023? Not us. But we've decided to believe in you. In the radical within you. We believe that you are the key to the new world. The one that isn't seen in the news, in your bank account, or in your Instagram feed. The world we all wish for when we open our eyes in the morning. We love it. But first, everything must fall.]

Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, the alluring music of KÅRP has been dubbed as «death disco», with comparisons drawn to The Knife, Lykke Li and Grimes. A dark love for the paranormal, outer space and the apocalyptic state of our times are recurring themes in both their music and lyrics.
