dilute_calico98 and the raw, brilliant touchstones of "ufo"

"won't catch me this time / I'll bury all my phones again / for the last time / don't follow me / don't leave your lights on / I'll make you wish you never did / you don't scare me..."

My indie amorousness of "ufo" by the enigmatic dilute_calico98 might have to do with it's 90's raw sound, the fact that is might have memoric touchstones in my head to sonic love interests from before even though it is it's own unique thing. It does, for me, have a very early Smashing Pumpkins, or more accurately a Billy Corgan thing going on, not exactly musically but attitudinally, artistically. The, what I assume to be, programmed beats, the sort of through a phone vocal aesthetic (or walkie talkie aesthetic), the amazingly hooky music breaks, mirroring a non lexical vocal that pulls so artfully hard at your T shirt sleeve and the beautifully curious poetry.

"won't catch me this time / I'll bury all my phones again / for the last time / don't follow me / don't leave your lights on / I'll make you wish you never did / you don't scare me..."

Oh, and such a raw, beautiful lead guitar drop about have way in. This decidedly lo-fi affair has it's hooks in me for sure. Do I secretly wish it was not so lo-fi and had a real drummer, maybe but I still love it (deeply).
