John in a Strange Land and the massive dark, sly whimsy of "Mister No Can Do"

"when he wander through town / they stop and stare..."

The scorched earth folkloric aesthetic of "Mister No Can Do" by the provocative alt rock / art grunge John in a Strange Land might turn you into a Zombie and will surely make Swifties heads explode in sheer terror. The post punk Gothic quality on high pulls you into the songs sticky web and the dramatic vocal aesthetic, bold, sinewy, muscular, post punk artful and kind of crazy, in terms of dark storytelling, falls into a dark sly, gleefully horror pop / art punk void. The overall sound could be described as a grand guignol spaghetti western, a Fistful of Dollars as directed by Dario Argento. Think an amalgam of Nick Cave, Tomahawk, KOBRA and the Doors on cocaine (chuckle) or something like that.

Difficult for me to pin down but I think you will listen to this repeatedly eventually cos-playing the singer. There is, for me, a wink or whimsy buried beneath all the heaviness, a Faustian character as realized by Tim Burton, but what do I know.
