Orange Animal and the cinematic rock fusion of "Clear"

"silence arose / is somebody here..."

The torchy, neo-soul rock fusion of "Clear" by Ohio's alt rock hybrid Orange Animal, led by singer /songwriter / guitarist  John Ramsey, begs to be read between it's sonic and lyrical lines. Pushed by Ramsey's brooding muscular vocal countenance, the blend of moody bass, emotional drumming, heavy guitar buttressed by walls of that heaviness blended with big orchestrations of sound makes for a dramatic piece of pop /rock noir. The overall impression is darkly romantic and highly cinematic and the warbling, bending screaming rock lead break mid-way through lets us imagine the movie's emotionally bloody climax.

“Clear” is the story of an imagined conversation with someone deeply loved but forever lost.

LINER NOTES - Band History:

2017: Where It All Began

Orange Animal was formed in Akron, Ohio in 2017 after Ramsey wrote a series of songs that he, Thurman, Derivan (and Moshe Koval) decided to start playing out at venues in Akron and Cleveland.

2018: The First Album

After the release of their first album in early 2018, Gave It All Away, Orange Animal traveled to play shows in Columbus and Chicago as well as continuing to build their home audience in Cleveland.

2019: The Second Album

Soon there were more songs and the creation of their sophomore album, No Song Sick Hearts in 2019.

With their live shows and album releases, they were recognized and featured as the Band of the Week in Cleveland Scene Magazine in May, 2019. They were also featured on WKSU’s Shuffle with Amanda Rabinowitz and received airplay on 91.3 The Summit.

2020-2022: California and Beyond

Throughout 2020 and 2021, Orange Animal continued to write and release music.

In 2021 and 2022, Orange Animal continued their traveling ways-playing three shows at the world-famous Viper Room in Los Angeles, CA as well as a set at El Cid on Sunset Blvd.

The band wrapped up their 2022 with a small road trip down I-77, playing shows in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati.

2023: The Next Chapter

In 2023, after a brief refrain, Orange Animal returned to the studio. But this time there were some new faces. From the acclaimed band, The Battle, bothers Ron and Donne Copenhaver and Chris Shaheen joined up with Ramsey and Derivan to create a new album, "Still Frames", that will be released in 2024.
