"I didn't mean to call / so I guess / that's my fault..."
The pretzeled twist of alt rock, post grunge and slacker sludginess of "Don't Do Everything" by Sacramento, California's My Pet Fossil, brings a trash fire warmth to the cockles of my heart. It could be the bendy sort of subtle Smashing Pumpkins spin, the kind of 90's drunken sonic stumbles within the vocal drawl, the surprising quiet pauses and the wild grunge like door slams, yeah love the big break downs that don't feel Metz massive but rather remind me of the small amp power that you feel in iconic grass roots venues (remember The Smell?).
In the end, My Pet Fossil might be like a time traveling machine. A nostalgic remembrance of when music wasn't made by computer and songs weren't commodities and we didn't have a fascist in office. Going to drive around in my car and get lost in this track even more.
"Don't Do Everything" exists on My Pet Fossil's upcoming album "The Other Shoe Drops" dropping on March 7th, 2025.
The band is Julian Hall on guitar / vocals, Ryan Corr on bass / vocals and Eric Frankenstein on drums.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM

My Pet Fossil was formed by Julian Hall, Ryan Patrick Corr, and Eric Frankenstein in 2021. Since then, they’ve spent many long hours together laboring on songs that are straightforward, honest, and loud. The songs are an honest look at the way that we feel about the world and ourselves, as we try to find beauty and meaning in some of the things we’d rather forget. Based in Sacramento, CA.
