The freedom rush, revelry and self love of "Out The Door", by Jupiter Florida all female alt rock trio Darkwater and Stars, feels like an artful, communal step into the past and the future. The runaway cadance, shouty vox and kind of bohemian folk meets busker punk meets late 80's / 90's indie rock is incredibly affecting. This is the sound of stalwarts of their respective indie scene. 

After repeated listens, I thought of New Zealand's The Bats (circa Daddy's Highway) and The Breeders and Camper Van Beethoven and Throwing Muses or an amalgam of all of those iconic artists. The song feels like it has history and this serving up of indie rock pie would have felt in line with the Athens, Georgia vibe in the late 70's that would give birth to R.E.M, like Pylon, like Widespread Panic, like the B-52s,

[The sound combines early 90s indie and grunge , 80s alternative and shoegaze with a hint of blues . Gritty velvet , heartbreaky angst and decades of musical influences from bands like The Cure , Dinosaur Jr., Mazzy Star , PJ Harvey , Pink Floyd , Velvet Underground and The Violent Femmes. These three ladies were born in the 1970s and bring their early years of influences to the forefront with a fresh new sound that feels both vintage and also modern . They have all been making music for over 4 decades and this band is more than the music - it’s a lifelong passion ! They hope to inspire other older women to get out there and make music too !]

Darkwater and Stars is comprised of Melissa Griffin (Guitar, Vocals, Lyrics, Recording), Allison Cohen (Bass guitar) and TJ Alison Amaral (Drums).
