"God damn, you're killing the clutch / On Robitussin X-Wings tearing through my streets / The tracers from your high beams are burning in my brain / The echoes from the underworld, rolling down the drain..."
The frenetic crushed metal distortions and emotional diaspora of "Deer of Wisdom", by Cookeville Tennessee four piece "y'allternative rock" band The Dog's Body, feels like a pummeling pressure cooker blending of alt rock / indie rock / emo / Southern rock filers and more. The bloodletting is, well, bloody, the chorus exclaiming "It's the end of the world / It's creeping through the walls / Can you feel the blood / Pounding like a drum" as youth seems to be dying and the birth of adulthood like an existential threat, feels brain poundingly messy and uncertain. A thousand times worse that your first break up. I think, especially, today, when the world and it's so called leaders feel insane, being young feels, at times like a zero sum game.
I was once a young man, killing on the road
