AP Track Review
The Trees by Los Angeles based (by way of Australia) darkwave duo Night Tongue aka Carisa Bianca Mellado and Andrew Dalziell (Concrete Veil) is a lush but equally eerie soundscape that sounds as much as nature crying or supernatural ghosts. The aesthetic, a combination of dreamy ambience and layered vox pushed through noise rock filters is a kind of feral wash of guitars, bass, drum machine, synth and cello. The Trees is from Night Tongue's debut album "The Stag King" currently available on the bands Bandcamp page.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
Night Tongue are a transgressive post-punk duo from Australia now based out of Los Angeles. The duo, featuring Carisa Bianca Mellado and Andrew Dalziell, create a dark mythic world of sex, death, horror and ecstasy constructed from modal vocal virtuosity, bright shimmering guitars, filthy bass, drum machine, synth and cello. Shrieking fury and spirit from a crossroads watched over by Diamanda Galas and The Birthday Party, Night Tongue build soundscapes of beautiful violence via Carisa’s astonishingly evocative vocals and Andrew’s spark-spitting guitar, with bass, synth and Cocteaus-esque drum machine pummeling the walls to contain it all. The duo ultimately combine their energies to create a music of ferocity, prayer and transcendence.
Post-punk veterans, the duo have worked and/or performed with David J (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets), White Magic, Steve Albini, Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Eric Erlandson (Hole), Nora Keyes (Centimeters, Fancy Space People) and Gitane Demone and Rikk Agnew (Christian Death). Carisa currently sings with legendary experimental doom band Asva with G. Stuart Dahlquist (Sun O))), Burning Witch, Goatsnake).
In 2017 Night Tongue performed in the UK with gnostic post-punk act The Academy of Sun and returned soon after for a European Tour in May/June of 2018. Their 10” EP Achelous + Melpomene is available for pre-order and currently available for streaming. The EP tells the story of the birth of the Sirens in Southern Italy, mothered by the Muse of Tragedy, Melpomene and fathered by the ancient underworld God of the oceans Achelous. The sirens, born from this dark union, sing of both the sweetness and sadness, that is love, life and death. Throughout 2017 and 2018 Night Tongue have composed scores for a number of short films and plays and performed sound baths. They will be officially launching their debut EP in September this year with a US tour to follow.
