"I was never your fallen angel"
Chicago's six piece indie rock band Perfect Blue are about to release their debut album and the second single Running From The Hills feels different from the onset. There is something unmistakably unique. Their aesthetic feels free from some of the typical indie rock tropes out in the current landscape. Their songs ride on Mellotron sounds, vintage drum machines, and a propensity to write divergent non commercial melodies. Those are the kind I appreciate and at their core is a vocal aesthetic that feels birthed out of 70's psyche rock or 90's post rock. Today you might call it desert rock or garden rock or something else entirely but it feels in some way classic and organically driven (Mellotron or not).
