"you come and talk me off the ledge again even though it's understood"
Hannah Lee Thompson is a singer songwriter (banjo, guitar, harmonica) and live sound engineer based out of Baltimore, Maryland and her track, Danny, feels like a deep slice of passion and of pain. The thing is, Thompson's vocal performance from the very onset is heartbreaking, "I think the worst things have yet to happen and I can barely hang on as it is", and immediate. It is as if you ran into a friend unexpectedly in the throes of pain, hurt and tears. While "Danny" starts with Thompson's voice followed by her plaintive electric guitar, a few steps in her narrative is bolstered by more guitars, bass and drums in a big, emotional way.
While the lyrics are poised in a raw open wound and feel like the crushing weight of a relationship breaking apart, parts of the story are unclear (as they should be) but the pain feels ever so real.
Hannah Lee Thompson (vox, electric guitar) is supported by alt-country band Crisco Dreams with Joe Beerman of Sipper on bass.
