"he goes to all the kitty cat shows"
Contemporary country lost it's way a long time ago and if I commented more on this subject I would have to write a novel. I would much rather focus on bands that give a damn like Los Angeles based (by way of Portland) Water Tower and while they would not be considered pure country, I suppose, but more indie-folk / bluegrass there is that crossover and everything I have heard these guys create / craft is earnest, roots based Americana spun songs. Take Bobcat (the wedding waltz song), with it's spartan style, it is still overflowing with emotional ascensions by way of acoustic guitar melodies, down to earth vox, shuffling beats, harmonies and beautiful country strings. Simply beautiful.
