Fufu Banana based out of Israel create music that seems to exist on a plane between one that is so called "normal" and one that is psychedelic. Decedent Sun from their 2020 "Do You Fufu?" EP floats along on surprising strikes of synths, a barbiturate drip drum beat and up front vox that almost feel like that inner voice. Soon enough the beat takes off into a lush dance mode with stacked harmonies, part real and part cloned vox tracks pitched and as another door opens, the pitched vox get so deep and distorted as to feel like a deep step down into some alien place. The surprising doors are many, shifting between wide eyed wonderment and moments of intoxicated dancing and what is wrong with that??

Fufu Banana are Timmy Tene (lead vox), Ori Kastiel (bass and vox), Yuval Onhoz (keys), Gal Oved (synth), Or Alperin (drums), Eyal "Monnie" Arav (trumpet) and Itay Ben-Yosef (percussion).

Fufu Banana is a psychedelic acid pop/rock band from Tel-Aviv, Israel, composed of seven players/misfits, with influences ranging from Indie Rock & Soul, to Hip-Hop, Funk, Garage and Classic Rock.

Fufu’s music is based on groove and retro-futuristic psychedelia and may cause involuntary reflexes in the lower limbs, that may be called “Dancing”.

The band’s music and lyrics are served with the intention of causing contrast;

While the music might sound fun, light, psychedelic and with childish elements, the lyrics talk about dealing with mental illnesses and rough personal situations that may affect anyone.

This contrast is a way to handle these “rough times”, through laughter and attempting to not take life too seriously.

Fufu Banana was formed in the spring of 2018 by Ori Kastiel who composed the music and joined forces with lead singer Timmy Tene and producer Gal Oved. Together they assembled the fitting players and forged the band’s unique style.

The band finished recording their first self-titled EP that will launch on March 2020.

Fufu Banana draw inspiration from a wide range of bands and musicians such as:
Mgmt. Gorillaz and Crumb, to David Bowie, The Doors, QOTSA, Kutiman and The Smiths.
