"I want to know you"
I think it is clear now, clear to me anyway that anything Vancouver based Jody Glenham crafts is beyond simply a song but more of an art piece. I was so incredibly impressed with the emotional punch of 'Talking Out Loud' that I wrote about earlier this year and now the track The Sound. Oh my. Glenham coalesces a sort of 60's crushing heart break sound with 90's post rock torch song tones and douses it with glimmer and big art rock / baroque pop affections. She then further bathes it in the stunning light of her vocal aesthetic that is potent as f*ck because within her vocal tones you can feel all those aforementioned genres all together. It is high art rock melodrama at it's best. Jody Glenham is not merely content to stomp on our hearts but is intent on doing so with sparkly shoes. The Official video is a trip too. As directed by Brandon William Fletcher is builds on Glenham's hyper realistic tones, the imagery feels like something between a Paul Delvaux and Max Ernst painting.

Called ‘One of the local music scene’s MVP’ by the Vancouver Sun, Jody Glenham fuses hazy vintage tones with modern songwriting that wistfully drifts the listener into a vivid altered reality. Initially drawing comparisons to 90s band Mazzy Star and the more contemporary Sharon Van Etten, Jody and her band, The Dreamers, have crafted a powerful live show that leaves audiences spellbound. Her dark alto texture gives her work a celestial, surreal quality, making her the perfect fit to headline two sold out shows at the HR Macmillan Space Centre earlier this year. With her last EP hitting #1 on CiTR’s 101.9 FM’s charts, several of her tracks have been featured on multiple TV series and a shoe was named after her by John Fluevog himself. Glenham, born on Friday the 13th of all days, is currently in the studio working on her next album with producers Raymond Richards (Local Natives, LCD Soundsystem) and Louise Burns (Gold & Youth, Lillix).
