"I've become over run by everything you've ever said"
The sweeping track Language by Gig Harbor, Washington based alt rock band Stablemate is a lot of things. From the onset, the keys are terribly pretty but sad at the same time. Once the full weight of the band steps onto those pearly tones you can easily get swept up into the cinema here and the easy to swallow vox that hold deep feeling sustains throughout. The band returns to those pretty keys in spartan ways and, in a way, it is like grounding yourself to a powerful quiet. When the musical bridge happens, the feeling is so utterly dreamy but then when the song erupts (surprisingly) in a massive art rock, post rock way you just might feel a chill skate across the small of your back. I know I did. It is a glorious moment and something to behold.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
Named after being childhood best friends from the same area, Stablemate is the creation and byname of Gig Harbor, Washington based musicians Conor Larson, Mitch Gilbert, and Anna Larson. Stablemate formed in 2020 with the release of their first single “Language”. However, they have been playing music together dating back to high school until they split ways in the pursuit of education and different careers. Conor joined the Navy and continued to write songs while sailing from San Diego, California to the United Arab Eremites over a 7 month period. Mitch graduated college and set off on adventure, driving the Pan-American highway from Seattle, Washington to Bariloche, Argentina. While being far from home for an extended period of time both had strong revelations of trying to excavate, unlock and harness any fraction of the magic that music inherently has. Language is the first iteration of an album made from self reflection through isolation and separation from the everyday world.
