"I watch them slowly defrag my heart"
Based out of Sweden, The Perfect Sign Language Pistol is the musical project of Angel Krotnev and Jerker Österlind and they just released their debut self titled EP (2020). The opening track Glow is a mysterious and sultry cajole. It starts with dirty keys and intensely drawn vocals and when the bass, guitar and up front drum beat descends it feels beautifully dark like velvet curtains are closing in, making the art rock drama heavier still but then it gets heavier. Two thirds of the way in, the synths grow more like a deeply serious majestic Church organ, "Seems to me your eyes have lost their glow". You can feel the loss, whether metaphorically or actually, "I watch them slowly defrag my heart".
The pair share:
"The challenge of performing as a duo is inspiring, and our years of experience from previous projects (Brainchild, Deathember, Fennek Film OSTs, art museeum installations, The Semmelweis Reflex, and years of studio work and other collabs) merge together into something that is interesting, raw and somewhat frightening to be part of."
And of the Official video:
"This video was made using a deepfake program and 1337 skillz, teaching a computer how to translate our faces on each other. Nothing in the video is a direct camera image, all faces are constructed by the machine learning algorithm. It's been a weird process it, to say the least - but an interesting one."
