"crawl through the night there’s a craving or two"
Oakland's 4 piece indie folk rock outfit W. Cryderman craft heart and soulfully felt music that (to me) encompasses feelings that hearken back to 60's and 70's garden rock born out of earthly pursuits, hippie dreams and longing for love (personal and cosmic). It is a sound steeped in the organic. Listen to Gimme A Scare (from their 2020 full length "Grande Masterpiece") with the righteous organ sound, plaintive twangy guitar, slow waltz cadence and truly rootsy evocative vocals and you feel the folk rock classicalism and scope of artists like Neil Young, Early Eagles, The Band.
Stepping in and out of other tracks on "Grande Masterpiece" and you feel the sun and saunter of the California coast, of barefoot walks in Big Sur and riding waves in the warmer waters of San Onofre, at least I do. All this and no perceptible synthesizers.
W. Cryderman is Ryan James Hozer (guitar, lead vox), Ryan Christopher Parks (lead guitar), Andrew Macy (bass) and Raj Kumar Ojha (drums).

W. Cryderman was formed in the summer of 2016, when Ryan Christopher Parks (B. Hamilton) convinced longtime friend Ryan Holzer (Billy Talbot Band, Even Stills) to return to Oakland from South Dakota and make a record. Andrew Macy (B. Hamilton, Tall Grass) and Raj Ojha (Once and Future Band, B. Hamilton, Shannon Shaw Band) joined in and together they created "Cryderman", the band's debut, in 2018.
Two years (and an added W.) later, the band is set to release its sophomore effort, "Grande Masterpiece," recorded/mixed/mastered by Ojha at the band's practice space in Oakland. It holds true to the live, raw nature of the previous, while, again with the help of the multi-talented Joel Robinow (Once and Future Band), brings a new, more honed sound to Holzer's songs. All members are currently sheltering in place in Oakland, California.
