In a world when it feels like you are being bombarded at every turn by electronic devices displaying words meant to eviscerate others, to cast dark shade instead of to illuminate, to cancel art and opinions instead of perpetuating nuanced discussions and debate, listening to Luke De-Sciscio's organic tender expressions of joy, pain (and everything in between) feels cathartic.
"Casuals" is from his upcoming album "Sublime" due to drop November 11th (2020) and as he shares:
"This is a song about recovering yourself from the wash of thoughts that can keep you from the beautiful moment."
"Casuals" jaunts at a rushed pace, on fierce tactile acoustic guitar rhythms and De-Sciscio's vocal lilt that ascends and falls, with real drama, pushes and pulls words that feel, in some ways, about the cosmos and, in other ways, about two people's symbiotic relationship:
"Molten as your body
the Universe's dream
persistently present but eternally
straddling the moment it presently is in"
Maybe it is a crisscrossing metaphor and maybe it is not but it is absolutely beautiful.

From Luke:
In the words of Bob Boilen, 'a single guitar and a voice, it takes a lot to be the grabber with just those ingredients but he just absolutely does it. This is a great song.'
At the start of 2020 I was one of ten artists chosen by NPR for their 'Ten Artists To Catch At SXSW' list - and then when SXSW was cancelled - one of ten artists to be included on 'Ten Artists We'll Miss At SXSW'.
My songs: R.O.B.Y.N. [Good Bye Folk Boy], I'm A Dream Fighting Out Of A Man [Good Bye Folk Boy] and 40 Days [Sublime] feature in 3 of Spotify's biggest Editorial playlists - 'The Most Beautiful Songs In The World', 'Lost In The Woods' and 'The Moon Is Calling'
Sublime releases on the 11th of November and is set to be my 3 album this year. Good Bye Folk Boy released in March, kick started my career and set this journey truly into motion - touring with Laura Gibson, playing shows with Sam Amidon and John Paul White across Europe, the UK and America.
Sublime is my finest work to date. It takes the soul rending introspection of Good Bye Folk Boy and imbibes it with a sense of purpose, belief and hope.

Sublime is an invitation to believe in the best of humanity.
