"only you, you only you"
Listening to the glistening sunny psychedelic shimmy of "Golden Flower" by Loco Tranquilo and I can imagine the most glacial avalanche of sadness melt away. The project / monkier of San Francisco based Julián Gervasi whose angelic croon (at first listen) felt androgynous in it's lilt. Gervasi's ethereal high register sustains are so incredible and beautiful. The song is propelled by lo-fi guitar sounds, an infectious surf punkish beat with a dancing Astaire bass line perfect that absolutely catchy, surreal drops with counterpoised lead guitar and synth lines and Gervasi's wide eyed dreamy vocal aesthetic that pushes the song into theatrical places I can't even describe but I will try.
Somehow I feel something like a calypso punk, Bollywood, 60's surf beach bingo party, 80's tropical post punk hair cut 100, wave crashing of sounds all at once. It is a beautiful thing.
Julián Gervasi hails from Buenos Aires and, with influences from Cocorosie and T Rex to The Beatles and Bjork, has been making music and bending genres as Loco Tranquilo (in the San Francisco music scene) since 2013.
