"you cannot lose"
There is something about a machine beat that feels both freeing and constraining at the same time. Layer on synth drones, percolating dirty pearls of guitar, a constant pushing bass line and aloof, maybe even coldly drawn resonant vocals in between talking and singing and you are floating in another time. That time may be in the past or it may be in the future. Prague based A Dull Set does just that on their track "Mouthfeel" and hearing it really makes me want to see this pair live.

A Dull Set are Prague-based duo Sam and Hayden, born either side of the UK's North/South divide. Exploring the dark fissure between New Wave and Post-Punk, unsung 80s music such as The Lines, Sad Lovers & Giants, and Kino forms the band’s modern take on one of music history’s most important decades.
Electric live performances reveal the band’s punk origins, whilst the success of the track ‘Emerge’ from the 2020 EP ‘What Kind of Spectacle’ hinted at the cold wave to come in their songwriting.
