Phaeic and the pained personification of "Without"

 

"no I'm not afraid..."

Granted the emotionally pained "Without" by L.A. based alt rock trio Phaeic may appeal to the black T-shirt and black fingernails crowd who only wear black tight skinny jeans and doc martins and who obsessively smog cigs and have seen The Nightmare Before Christmas 56 times (minimally). This is true, a given but the song with it's sort of Smashing Pumpkins / Death Cab / Thirty Seconds To Mars amalgam (sort of and forgive me) appeals to any one who has ever wanted to be the brooding dark person in the corner of the party that everyone notices eventually, even jaded cynics like me. 

"Without" is from the band's latest EP "W/OUT".

Los Angeles alt rock trio Phaeic is composed of frontman Kris Balocca, drummer Josh Dobrowner, and bassist Elijah Wells. Taking after the best of 90s alternative rock, the band combines a blistering sound with tender moments and heartfelt lyrics in a unique, contemporary sonic package. The band's self-recorded debut EP, entitled "W/Out," is set to come out this March.
