"you come to get some more..."
Love of Nations is the self described electro / punk / soul / folk / rock / disco project of the aforementioned Jay Particular, a Memphis engineer / songwriter / producer. Of this track Particular shares:
[I wrote this song after hearing U.K. based Billy Nomates and her friends Sleaford Mods. I was incredibly moved at discovering Billy Nomates and that scene there, as I am an "independent" producer-mixer type here in Memphis, Tennessee, and wanted to write and produce something "hard" to impress them (in my mind). As I worked on the song, I felt myself trying to lyrically tap into the kind of themes covered in John Lennon's "Mind Games" or Paul McCartney's "Coming Up" -- with a lyrical influence from Paul Oakenfold's "Starry-Eyed Surprise," as well.]
I haven't delved into Love of Nations other music yet and I am guessing that as a well rounded producer, Particular dabbles in different styles and soundscapes. I hope, this particular vision and sound steeped in a retro 80's vibe ends up being a central part of what he does because as evidenced by this track, he does this so well.

Love of Nations is an electro-punk-soul-folk-rock-disco project created by “independent” Memphis engineer-producer and music enthusiast Jay Particular. After years of traveling the U.S. designing sound for major terrestrial radio stations, Jay returned home to the Delta. Based on the idea of unity in perceived separation, the outfit was born when Jay wished a friend traveling overseas well: “the love of nations goes with you.” Instruments and studio tools are intentionally sought from working artisans around the world.
