"Storm Chaser" by Cincinnati, Ohio based Sungaze is the first single (and Official Video) from their upcoming album "This Dream" due to drop on August 13th (2021). In my mind, it unquestionably cast images of late 60's Americana psychedelia. Garden rock with a patina of Gothic tones around the edges. The big sweep, potent electric guitar work and stoic beat cuts a deep dark framework for the shoegaze-esque vocal aesthetic buried only slightly in the fray. The name of the track is so fitting because the entire song is shrouded with dark clouds in spite of Ivory Snow's haunting and beautiful vox.
Sungaze is comprised of husband and wife duo Ian Hilvert and Snow who compose together. I love that they both sing lead vocals adding depth to their songs. Of this track they share:
"Storm Chaser" was written during quarantine and chronicles the process of becoming aware of the things we do to hold ourselves back in life--self-sabotaging patterns, escapism, etc--and letting go of them to embrace the inner storm and find peace within.
The evocative self directed Official Video is cast against foreboding skies.

Sungaze is an American Dreamgaze band from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Their signature sound lends itself quite equally to the realms of Shoegaze, Neo-psychedelia and Dreampop, with an unmistakable western flair reminiscent of some of the popular singer-songwriters of the 60’s.
The band centers around the relationship and dynamic of husband and wife duo Ian Hilvert and Ivory Snow, who write collaboratively and share lead vocal duties--resulting in a distinct sound entirely their own.
