"the healing begins now, it's a beautiful day to change..."
"Light Up Luvr" is one such musical blender of a song with beautifully soul catching hooks. There is a definite merging of 60's holistic psychedelia with sort of Beatle-eeee flute sounds, an all inclusive 70's bohemian stoner rock vibe of artists like Spooky Tooth and Stealers Wheel and a tinge of 90's indie pop rock of artists like Teenage Fanclub and The Lemonheads. AND, of course, a whole lot of Grady which is hard to quantify or qualify really. There is a unique spark in his songs and playful aesthetic that makes you feel good (yes) but there are things in between the lines too, complex bits of emotionality stuffed into the askew poetry and in the end his songs makes you want pray for a better world whether you are religious or not. Maybe it is a hidden 60's hippie manifesto or maybe it is the sense that Grady Strange (as a unit) really are healers after all. This might make more sense after you see the accompanying very funny and whimsical Chihuahua dance cult video as conceived, written, directed and edited by music photographer Pooneh Ghana.
Speaking of sparks, (was I?), Grady played and recorded all the instruments on "Light Up Luvr" at his home on his tape machine and is from his current full length "Getting Stranger". Amazing.

Grady Strange is the solo music mission of Grady Wenrich, along with help from his partner Mackenzie Howe aka Pet Dress, their dog Dolly Parton, and friends. Based out of LA, some call it "saltwater cowgirl rocknroll", others call it an honest attempt. And what else can we do these days? The world is dying and giving you all that it can so you can have a good time. Don't let it down.
