"you say the world is wild, you're scared but with a smile protecting all your blueprints..."
These times are ideal for getting political but also ideal for glitter ball escapism between the serious times. The very dreamy and cool "Roller Skating" by experimental pop artist Plunki with the 80's drenched synths, otherworldly Mellotron harps, pushed bass beats and Plunki's layered soul pop vox feel at once gloriously endearing. The atmosphere is cool, vibey but fun, romantic (as well) with a slight patina of melancholia. Of both Cuban and Irish descent and with influences as diverse as Kate Bush and Gloria Estefan, the Miami based and South Florida raised artist takes the DIY aesthetic to heart, self producing most of her sonic art.
Tie your skates on tightly, tuck your laces in and keep looking at the stars.

Hailing from Miami, experimental pop artist Plunki is all at once earnest and playful. Her refreshing take on pop stems from her upbringing in South Florida as well as a life long love for the weird. Plunki jumps from synth pop to latin folk with astounding ease, emulating the sounds of her hometown - and often sampling them - all while maintaining a classic pop sensibility. An artist of both Cuban and Irish descent, it’s no wonder her biggest influences include both Kate Bush and Gloria Estefan. While she self-produces the majority of her work, Plunki is a songwriter at heart - taking cues from the likes of Carly Simon and Laura Nyro as well as contemporary acts like Kali Uchis and Empress Of.
