"wanderlust has taken it's toll..."
Maybe it would not be wrong to say that the most broken up bars or pubs have the most broken up people inside. Still I would not be caught dead inside a high class drinkery where most everyone shows their selfie self instead of who they really are. These thoughts have to do with the track "Wanderlust" by Bollnäs municipality's, Sweden based MFMB. The track from their '7 years in the making' album "Sugar" is directly inspired by "those dive bars, and the news of yesterday, and the things we forgot, or chose not to see.”
Ultimately, with the stately kind of M83 synths but melancholy, stoic military-esque drum cadence, somber trancy lounge punk chord shapes, and vocals that steep in the pools of lost time at the bottom of the bottle, "Wanderlust" might play like a sort of avant pop, post punk version of BJ's "Piano Man" (kind of). Songs like this ultimately might remind us that too much time spent with mr. alcohol might glue our asses permanently to those well worn seats and that time is fleeting and doing almost anything else is just more life affirming. I love the song though that MFMB has penned a whole lot and their live performance too.
MFMB are comprised of: Erik Nilsson (he/him) drums, Vic Narin (they/them) vocals Joakim Lindberg (he/him) guitars, Christine Björk (she/her) vocals /guitar, Sebastian Hedberg (he/him) bass and Kristoffer Bäckström (he/him) drums.
