"In another life my clothes ragged / Sun beating down / Through city streets of soft clay / Please stay..."
When I first heard the utter beauty of "Chasing" by East Coast bred, Los Angeles based Two Truths, an indie rock outfit centered around the songwriting and vocal talents of Jonathan Blake and Garrett Mader, I instantly escaped into the dense vocal harmonies and was taken back to 60's Crosby, Stills and Nash (for whatever reason I thought of "Helplessly Hoping"). As Andy Samberg channeling Nicholas Cage would exclaim: "High Praise!" and it is. Against counterpoised pearly guitar / mandolin notes, deep evocative bass moves, drum and machine beats, transient Fender Rhodes, guitar harmonics and more Blake and Garrett's interweaving harmonies are truly, totally captivating. The pair's melodies flowing in rushed ways then breathing with lovely sustains move like in intricately orchestrated beautiful dance.
