"I was waking up by your side so many things on my mind / Should I lay for another day, should I rise for another pay..."
Sulevin uni is a self described 'dreamy indie alternative' band / project based out of Leipzig, Germany and created by singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Juuso Nousiainen. Sometimes solo and sometimes with collaborators David, Lonneke and Fabian, Sulevin uni creates songs that are guitar centric but flourish in soundscapes that often times dip down sonic rabbit holes in avant pop or proggy post rock ways. Jusso's secret weapon though (besides his askew visions) is his vocal aesthetic. On Sulevin uni's latest offering, "Palm Garten", inspired by the Palmengarten park he was living near, he draws on beautiful guitar shapes that contain their own melodies. The song moves easy in a sort of folk meets old school pop tones (late 70's pop comes to mind) but it feels artistically askew too. Jusso's vocals here, resonant and theatrically broad feels provocative, like a soothsayer narrator who is singing to you and can see into your future but doesn't want to give the good and bad details of your life away. There is this kind of wink and smile within the vocal performance (at least to me). It gives the song a sensation that feels curious and surreal but captivatingly beautiful as well.

Sulevin uni is a group based in Leipzig with members' backgrounds around Europe. Fusing soft, mesmerizing guitar sounds to darkly atmospheric soundscapes and powerfully soulful vocals, the music can be described as dreamy indie alternative. In the last two years, Sulevin uni has released an album and three singles with varying styles. The project was created by Juuso Nousiainen who produces and mixes the songs. Other band members are David, Lonneke and Fabian.
Juuso first made his mark back in January 2020 with the release of his debut single “Thundercloud”. The following album “Climate Depression” expressed all the wrongs and bad news he’s experienced in the world in the last years. Inspired by artists like Radiohead, Tame Impala and Pink Floyd, he uses music as a means of transmitting his message of his vision for a better world. A way to bare his soul and express his deep innermost thoughts.
The multi-instrumentalist got his start back in elementary school when he first picked up the guitar. Growing up he always loved music and played in various bands. He moved out to Berlin to embrace the party lifestyle and became immersed in the electronic music scene. He began making beats, but soon gravitated back to classical guitar. After taking a few courses in songwriting he began making his own songs.
