"in the house you'll find a resting place..."
Since around 2008 I noticed a big resurgence of late 60's psychedelia blended in with post punk and surf punk, surf rock manifestations but "Weeds of Green" by Minneapolis based Erik's Iridescent Tent may feel the most subversive and intrinsically pure. While sonically heavier, it feels so purely born out of that time as if it grew out of an acid trip in Haight Ashbury in the shadow of Vietnam protests, counter culture wars and before the Manson murders and the decade of the serial killer.
Key to this pure psych rock sound of Erik's Iridescent Tent is the Farfisa organ sound and unrelenting fury of bass, guitars, a thunderous drum break in a multi-colored constant climax of sounds as vocals scream and wail. The band is (as press notey stuff indicate) "forged via members of several local psychedelic rock acts in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, including: Black Satori, Narco States, kazaizen, and Bilbong Baggins".
"Weeds of Green" is from their debut album, "Peter Piper Pepperidge Farm at The Gates of Dawn Detergent".
