Fall into the descending chord shapes of "Sticks & Stones" by Anglo-Swedish indie rockers Alberta Cross from Gidon Carmel’s powerhouse 12-song concept album "Goabi" and you might feel a palpable darkness wrap around you. Against the stair stepping sadness, the melancholy vox that if looked at sideways might feel like transmissions from vintage phones (those tethered to walls) are nonetheless beautiful as hard lines are delivered.

Anglo-Swedish indie rockers Alberta Cross are the latest artists to deliver sonic goods on Gidon Carmel’s powerhouse 12-song concept album ‘Goabi’.
The gorgeously haunting single ‘Sticks and Stones’ was co-written and created by Carmel and Alberta Cross’s Petter Ericson Stakee – the fourth track release from Carmel’s collaboration project, which features artists from Berlin’s thriving dark folk, pop, rock, experimental and electronic scenes.
Carmel’s Goabi album carries the story of an intergalactic being named Goabi, who falls to planet earth and suffers a dramatic fate at the hands of menacing human discoverers.
Carmel envisioned this concept, and encouraging each of the 14 artists to co-write a piece of the album’s journey.
