"Need more mesh / Got a mess of epinephrine debt / And authentic texts / Now I'm a sad boy and I wouldn't mind / Fresh sashimi and tender vibes..."
The unbridled frantic (yet precise) energy of "Mesh" by Brooklyn-based My Son The Doctor feels like a thousand 12 year olds barreling out of packed movie theatre hyped up on cases of pixie sticks and soda pop. That being said, the dense musicality and utterly original lyrics are brilliant in their originality, the words chewed on like scenery have a quirky comedic edge while also slashing and drawing blood.
Spewed out commentary like:
Need more nudes
And an HMO because all I knowIs the therapist that should take my insurance
Just said "In this economy?"
... hits home and is a reminder that whatever life deals us we can handle it best with a combination of the middle finger and a big sense of humor. Press notey stuff help decipher what "MESH" is.
MESH is like cold mornings and hot nights.
MESH is like pulling the tarp off your hog and riding through mist. Total Freedom.
MESH is like watching your stepmom flirt with the Brunch waiter.
MESH is like screaming at your dad to give you back your childhood bongs.
MESH is like correcting your geology professor in front of your Freshman peers.
