"because she called the police and the police are on their way / now that girl is nowhere to be found..."
A seemingly self propelled, wind up of a song "Shannon Smells Gas" by New Jersey fun outfit Smooch moves in bouncy ways, a cadence that feel like a hybrid between polka and proto punk and in some ways stirred feeling inside me like a collision between Man Man, The English Beat, Modest Mouse and "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da". The super nimble bass fingers, ska-ified rhythms, ultra snappy drum beat and artful jubilant vox tell a true story that has me wondering if Shannon was a Karen.
Smooch shares:
"This song is a true story about the time we played a basement show that was evacuated due to a gas leak scare."

"Shannon Smells Gas" is track two from Smooch's current full length "Watermelon" full of juicy songs.

"it has been a quiet quarantine for Smooch," says Benny Profane, the group's mysterious new manager, who looks like an old dish rag, and smells the same, "and yet, these boys were making noise the whole time."
At this point, in our discussion, Profane reaches into the pocket of his suspiciously pristine Letterman's jacket - (Mr. Profane would neither confirm nor deny reports that he stole it)...
** At this particular time we find ourselves in a financial pinch due to many factors. We want to keep AP going. It has been a passion project for over 13 years. PLEASE consider donating, we could really use the support. Thanks so much
